Everest Mini Rimdu Festival

Everest Mani Rimdu Festival trekking is one of the most fascinating High Himalayan Buddhist festivals observed every year, usually in November (date fixed by lunar calendar) in Tengboche monastery. It is an old Buddhist monastery located on a ridge top. Mani Rimdu is a colorful festival. The Mani Rimdu festival depicts the victory of Buddhism over the ancient Bon religion. Mani Rimdu festival is one of the big festivals in khumbu resign which is ceremony since ten-day non-stop till full moon day, following the ten-day non-stop prayer sessions addressed to the patron deities - seeking “blessing for the good of all mankind". The protagonists of all are Guru Rimpoche of Tengboche, the founder of Vajrayan Buddhism in Tibet. Masked Lamas of Khumbu region perform various religious rituals amidst dancing and singing. On the final evening of Mani Rimdu the villagers join in an all-night Sherpa dance. This period coincides with the cessation of work in the village at the end of harvesting. Mani-Rimdu  Festival is the only big social event that draws together large crowds from all villagers in the Khumbu.
